Michael Finneran, Principal, dBrn Associates, Inc.

Michael Finneran is an independent industry analyst, consultant, and writer with over 30-years experience in the telecommunications field. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences including InterOp, VoiceCon, andM Finneran-Square the Wall Street Technology Association, and now serves as chairman for the wireless and mobility track at VoiceCon. He has published over 200 articles in industry publications including Business Communications Review, Data Communications, Computerworld, The Ticker, and The ACUTA Journal and is a regular contributor to NoJitter and UC Strategies. For over 20-years he wrote the Networking Intelligence column for Business Communications Review. He recently published his first book titled Voice Over Wireless LANs -The Complete Guide.

In the training area, Mr. Finneran has conducted over 2000 seminars on various network topics in the U.S., Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. He taught for BCR Training for over 25-years, served as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Graduate School of Computer Science at Pace University and has taught at the Center for the Study of Data Processing at Washington University.

Mr. Finneran is a member of the IEEE, the Society of Telecommunications Consultants, and has a Masters Degree from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Zachary L. Cohen, Principal Consultant, Briarwood Associates

Zachary L. Cohen has spent over 40 years been in the data and telecommunications industry. He founded Briarwood Associates in 1985, and is the Principal Consultant. Zak is internationally known for his training in the communications industry. As a contractor and consultant to various training venders, he has trained thousands of craft and management personnel in most of the Fortunzack cohene 500 companies in data communications engineering, installation, troubleshooting and Project Management techniques.

Prior to Briarwood Associates, Zak’s background included management and engineering positions with Ernst & Young, Pacific Bell, MICOM and the United States Navy.  Consulting engagements have included major assignments in data and telecommunications system and network engineering, PBX system engineering, micro-to-mainframe connectivity, LAN design and implementation.

His training programs have been offered through BCR Training, Shunra, Cisco Systems, Learning Tree, and MICOM.  Zak has a B.A. and an M.A. in Sociology from California State University, Northridge. He majored in Sociology to enhance and advance his personnel, management and team building techniques. He is a senior member, and an elected Regional Officer, of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).

Stephen M. Leaden, President, Leaden Associates, Inc

Stephen Leaden is founder and President of Leaden Associates, Inc., an independent Telecommunications IT consulting firm providing specialized support in Telecommunications technologies and ROI strategies.  Mr. Leaden has been in thestevel2 Telecommunications field over 25 years, with 17 of those with his own firm.  Clients include recognized enterprise clients in healthcare/education, manufacturing, financial services, publishing, and government vertical market segments.  Mr. Leaden brings real-world experience and expertise to Telecom+UC Training.

Mr. Leaden’s firm focuses as an extension of IT staff to facilitate the design, procurement, project implementation, and outsourcing for converged voice and data solutions.  During their engagement, Leaden Associates proactively adds value via ROI strategies integrated into the projects they serve on. 

Mr. Leaden’s practice has focused on Voice over IP and key market trends in this area – he has spoken at national and International conferences on VoIP, has written four papers on VoIP strategies, troubleshooting and security, and has been quoted in national industry publications including BCR Magazine, nojitter.com, Computer World, Information Week, and the Washington Post among others. Mr. Leaden is on the faculty of Telecom+UC Training and teaches two courses: “Cost Control of Wired and Wireless Networks: Best Practices and “Optimizing Enterprise Networks”.

Mr. Leaden is Past President and member of the Society of Telecommunications Consultants, a national Telecommunications association that requires objectivity and professionalism as a prerequisite for membership.  Mr. Leaden's degree is from Marist College, Poughkeepsie, New York.

Marty Parker, a Principal of UniComm Consulting

Marty Parker is a principal of UniComm Consulting and a co-founder of UCStrategies.com providing consulting support to both private and public sector enterprises. Marty is part of a network of talent and ideasparker1 to assure clients of the best and latest information about Unified Communications (UC).

Marty's focus is on the applications for UC and how those applications optimize business processes to deliver hard-dollar ROI. He developed the BCR Training course, "Planning and Implementing VoIP Unified Communications". His articles have appeared in BCR Magazine and on NoJitter.com (see "Top UC Applications Now Apparent", June 2007); and his UC RFP Templates are available at UCStrategies.com. Marty is a regular moderator and presenter at VoiceCon, InterOp, and in other UC industry venues. His applications and industry-oriented perspectives on UC are based on sales, marketing, product management and executive experience with IBM and ATT/Lucent/Avaya as well as with a major Telecom VAR and as founder and CEO of venture-funded startups in the early phases of the voice messaging industry.

Marty Parker is a leader in Unified Communications and has in-depth, hands-on experience with real-world client implementations of Unified Communications solutions, and brings that experience to his workshop.

Buddy Shipley

 Mr. Shipley is an independent IT consultant specializing in networking and protocols.  He thoroughly understands international communibuddy1cations standards and how they are employed to support the computing needs of organizations regardless of the mix of computing platforms.  In addition to consulting services, he provides Internet hosting services, develops and conducts hands-on training seminars and lectures, he has spoken at numerous industry events and tradeshows including NetWorld, Networld+InterOp, Telecommunications Association (TCA) conferences, and VoiceCon.  Mr. Shipley has written articles for various computer publications including Business Communications Review, Computer World, Internetwork Magazine, LAN Technology, LAN Times, and Network Magazine.  He wrote the Ethernet Pocket Reference Guide, and most recently, the Installer’s Guide to Local Area Networks, published by Thomson – Delmar Learning (ISBN: 0766833747). 

Mr. Shipley’s consulting expertise spans enterprise-wide internetworking of multi-vendor, multi-protocol environments, and the development and presentation of training materials on these topics. He has provided consulting services for wide spectrum of organizations including AT&T, the U.S. Postal Service, the U.S. Navy, USGS, USDA, News International (UK), Vision Solutions, SYSCO Corporation, Towersdata (Thomson Financial), various Internet service providers and systems integrators, and myriad other businesses.  He has also provided instruction for the academic staffs of technical training institutes, colleges and universities, such as DeVry College of Technology, Western Oklahoma State College, and the University of Miami.
